NEW PS5 CONTROLER COST $250!
RAZER HAS A NEW $250 PS5 CONTROLLER!
November 10. 2022.
The Wolverine V2 Pro costs more than the DualSense Edge and features a different stick layout.

Razer has announced a new controller for the PlayStation 5. The Wolverine V2 Pro is a customisable wireless controller for Sony's currrent-gen console, that also supports PCs, and if you like the look of the thing be prepared to stump up because it is not cheap. The Wolverine V2 Pro is available to pre-order for $249.99, which means the Razer controller is $50 more than Sony's DualSense Edge that's slated to release in early 2023. So what's special about this particular controller? Well, for one, it seems to adopt the form factor of the Xbox controller somewhat as it has a similar diagonal positioning for the analog sticks. Some players might prefer the ergonomics of Xbox controllers to the PlayStation's.
In addition, Razer's offering will include six remappable buttons, including four back paddles and two near each side's shoulder buttons. There are two additional analog stick caps that can be swapped out magnetically. One of these is convex and shorter, while the other is taller and concave. Users will need to connect the controller via Bluetooth to an iOS or Android device and open up the Razer Controller app to map the buttons while analog stick sensitivity can also be customised. There are also saveable profiles for different game types (racing, shooter, fighting, sports, for example).
Like Razer's Wolverine V2 Chroma, this PS5 controller uses "mecha-tactile" switches. This means the buttons tend to press more how a mouse click feels like rather than your typical membrane buttons, but players can enjoy faster input. There is also an 8-way D-pad that does represent an upgrade on the regular DualSense's 4-way one. The Razer Wolverine V2 Pro is an officially licensed PlayStation controller and it has an in-built mic and speaker. It also features what the company calls HyperTrigger technology, which means gamers can alternate between "measured full-range pulls" for acceleration in racing games, for example, and faster clicks for firing guns in shooters, say. The Razer has more lighting options too since it uses the company's Chroma RGB.
The Razer Wolverine V2 Pro for PS5 and PC comes in white and is availble to pre-order for $250. It ships on December 31 according to the official site.
