Biography
There's a legend around here. A killer buried, but not dead. A curse on Crystal Lake, a death curse. Jason Voorhees' curse. They say he died as a boy, but he keeps coming back. Few have seen him and lived. Some have even tried to stop him. No one can. People forget he's down there, waiting..."
Jason Voorhees was born in the small town of Crystal Lake on June 13, 1946 to Elias Voorhees and Pamela Voorhees. Though his age is often disputed, as the actress for Pamela created a backstory for her character that put Jason's birthdate in 1944. Jason was afflicted with severe facial deformities, Hydrocephalus, an abnormally large head, and mental disabilities. Raising Jason on her own, Pamela kept her son isolated from the community, not letting him attend school and educating him in their home on the outskirts of Crystal Lake. Due to his mental deficiencies, his education was quite limited, but he learned never to question his mother. He obeyed all his mothers orders, grasping the concept that his life was going to be difficult, if not impossible, without her guidance. His extreme obedience for his mother would manifest itself in a strange way after puberty. Even after she died, Jason could imagine her talking to him from beyond the grave.
Jason Voorhees is the main antagonist of the Friday the 13th franchise. He appears as the posthumous overarching character of the original Friday the 13th, the posthumous overarching antagonist of Friday the 13th. He is a deformed serial killer who is known for wearing a hockey mask to cover his deformities and killing those who dare to step foot in Crystal Lake out of vengeance for his mother Pamela whom he witnessed being decapitated. When he was a human, Jason was exceptionally durable and difficult to kill, but he could still feel pain and eventually was brought down by Tommy Jarvis, who continuously hacked away at him with his own machete. However, this would not be the end for years later, he'd be brought back from the dead by complete accident by Jarvis as an undead revenant which granted him supernatural abilities. Jason is also notable for using a machete as his preferred weapon with a close second being an axe, but he also has been known to use just whatever item he finds lying around and even his bare hands.Jason is an enigmatic and foreboding figure, seldom exhibiting any characteristics outside of a burning desire to hunt and anger at those who invade his land. Jason is also utterly relentless with his prey, pursuing his desired quarry without ever backing down, not even allowing grievous bodily harm inflicted upon him to hinder his determination. Despite his crude and simple nature, he does experience intense emotions, though his behaviour is more akin to a feral-minded beast defending it's territory than a cognitive vengeful human, as most of his victims are those who show up without him approving. Even if Crystal Lake were to change its name, he would stick to the stretch of land, and kill any trespassers without so much as a pang of remorse. While Jason is mentally ill, his mindset is completely unlike that of anyone else, and the only remotely human aspect of this unhinged man is his attachment to his mother. Jason blindly complies with her, as she was the only person to show any kindness towards him as a child. Therefore, those who understand this can use his love against him.Freddy's façade as his mother also fooled him. Interestingly, Jason despises seeing teenagers drinking, taking drugs, and he is especially disgusted by sex, presumably the reasons that led to his supposed drowning as a child. However, due to the fact that he does not even try to socialize, he may simply be misanthropic and reclusive, having no desire to assimilate himself into society. This mindset has undoubtedly spawned from all of the abuse that he dealt with as a child. It also indicates that Jason might also kill people because he cannot relate to them despite his naïve nature and that some of his victims remind him of those who abused him in the past.
Artifacts, Items, Powers
• MACHETE
(Press Photo to Zoom) Machete is a large, knife-like weapon, used throughout the series. It is mostly used by Jason Voorhees and was possibly his favorite weapon, as he used it whenever possible.
• HOCKEY MASK
(Press Photo to Zoom) Before he acquired his Hockey Mask, Jason wore a burlap sack over his head with a single eyehole that was cut out on the left side. Jason lost that in his battle against Paul Holt and Ginny Field.
After he survived his attack against Ginny and Paul, next evening, Jason stole a Detroit Red Wings hockey mask from Sheldon Finkelstein, which had a red arrowhead triangle between the eyes and two red triangles on either side of the nose (the triangles were technically called "chevrons"), that both pointed in upward diagonally towards the eye holes. The mask later gets a diagonal crack above the left eye hole from an axe wound caused by Christine Higgins.
